Kim Borthwick, a mother-of-two from Glasgow, has died nine months after being diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour. She was 36.
Diagnosis and family
Ms Borthwick was diagnosed with the tumour on January 18, a week after first experiencing symptoms. She had been diagnosed with glioblastoma after suffering headaches over the festive period, initially believing she had exhausted herself amid the festivities.
She is survived by her twin sons Max and Freddie and her husband, Ross.
Campaign work and tribute
Ms Borthwick had previously spoken publicly about her condition and joined the Brain Cancer Justice campaign group, which is urging politicians to provide greater support and funding for rare cancers.
Her family announced on Tuesday night that she had died. A statement posted on her Instagram account said: “On behalf of Kim’s family it is with a heavy heart that we share of her passing.
“Kim slipped away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. She was her brave, fighting self right to the very end.
“Kim meant so much to so many people and she will be forever missed.
“We wish to thank you all for the incredible support you’ve shown over the past eight months. It meant the world to Kim, and to us.”
