Grandmother mistaken for 20 years younger shares free anti-ageing habits

A 60-year-old grandmother from Devon says free daily habits have left people thinking she is 20 years younger, with some even mistaking her for her 32-year-old daughter's sister.

Astrid Zeegen-Holt, a content creator, said she has been mistaken for her daughter's sister on a cruise. "We got chatting to a couple, who after a few days, said that when they first met us they thought we were sisters," she said.

Free routine that turns back the clock

Astrid credits her youthful appearance to simple, cost-free practices. "I always take my make-up off. I try to walk 10,000 steps a day and only eat between 11am and 6pm," she said.

Her daily diet begins with fruit, Greek yoghurt and honey. For lunch, she has leftover chicken from the previous night's dinner, and for tea, it's usually an omelette with crackers and cheese or salad.

Attitude and fashion play a key role

Astrid said attitude is the biggest trick. "It plays a big part in how long you look and feel," she explained. "I feel like I did when I was so much younger – apart from my achy bits – but I get up and live every day like it's my last."

Her fashion sense also matters. She prioritises comfort over trends and shops at small ethical independent stores and vintage shops. "I definitely dress for myself and no one else," she said.

Social media reaction

In a clip with 715,000 views and over 68,000 likes, Astrid shows herself getting ready for her granddaughter's first birthday party, wearing checkered green trousers, a white vest top, pink knit, green bag and green flats.

Users reacted with surprise. "You look younger than me, and I'm 25," one commented. Another said, "Wait, granddaughter? You look younger than me and I'm 30."

Astrid advised: "Don't be scared to dress in things you loved at 30 years old. You can still carry that off. You'll be amazed at how good you will feel – and if you don't feel brave enough, then start small."
