Channel 4 star tearful over sister's health scare

Trewley-Precious, a star of Channel 4's Secret Lives of Gypsy Wives, became emotional during the latest episode after revealing her sister Ruby-Anne was rushed to hospital following a sudden health scare.

Sister rushed to hospital

In the episode aired on August 17, the TikTok star explained that Ruby-Anne was taken to hospital after suddenly becoming unwell, leaving the family fearing something serious was wrong.

Speaking to the camera, Trewley said: “Just after Christmas my sister Ruby-Anne was rushed to hospital, she had a really weird health scare, and it freaked everyone out.”

Family's terrifying ordeal

Her mother Tina also became visibly emotional as she recalled how quickly Ruby-Anne's condition changed. “We had a really bad scare yesterday. Ruby ended up going to the hospital,” Tina explained. “She was really poorly, come on really suddenly. She was absolutely fine in the morning. She went over to Honey's after about an hour, said she had a really bad headache, and then started, like, slurring all the words.”

Tina said the family panicked and rushed Ruby-Anne to hospital. “The girls just panicked, brought her back here, literally jumped in the car. We shot up to the hospital,” she continued. “She had, like, really bad burning in her head. She couldn't speak, she would vomiting. They'd done blood tests, and they'd done a CT scan.”

Diagnosis and emotional impact

Doctors identified pressure in Ruby-Anne's head and said she would need further tests. “They came back, and they said she's got intracranial hypertension, which is, like, massive pressure in your head. So she's got to have an MRI scan,” Tina said.

The ordeal was particularly difficult for Tina, who admitted she felt she had to remain strong for everyone else. “It's horrible when you have to be the really strong one that smiles and says 'it's gonna be all right' when there's no one to say 'it's gonna be all right' to me,” she said. “I have to just say it even though I'm thinking, ‘Oh, my God, like, what is going on? This is my big, big girl.’”

Tina broke down as she spoke about Ruby-Anne's role in the family. “She’s never been ill before or anything. It was just really scary because she's... she's so strong at the time,” she said. “She’s second in control, she's second mummy, and she... she mummies them all the time.”

Positive update

Trewley admitted she was still struggling to process what had happened, telling her family she was “just trying to get over yesterday”. She became tearful as she recalled the moment she feared the worst. “That was scary. I literally thought she was on a stroke,” Trewley said. “So I was praying in the car, thinking, ‘Please, please don't do that to her.’”

With tears in her eyes, she added: “Because... Oh, I can't even think about it, it makes my eyes water. I thought the worst yesterday.”

Thankfully, the family later received more positive news about Ruby-Anne's condition, and a week later doctors had advised her to make changes to her diet to improve her health. Secret Lives of Gypsy Wives is available to stream on Channel 4.
