Sky News interrupted for tragic update in devastating breaking news alert

Sky News presenter Jayne Secker interrupted the broadcaster's usual programming to bring a tragic update about the death of royal medic Dr Hannah Cain, known professionally as Dr Hannah Terry. The 45-year-old was found dead at her address in Fern Hill, Dersingham, in the early hours of October 4.

Family tribute read on air

Her family issued a heartbreaking statement paying tribute to the mum-of-three on Wednesday (October 10) and Secker delivered it to viewers. "Let's bring you some breaking news," she announced. "This is about the death of Dr. Hannah Cain, who was known professionally as Dr. Hannah Terry. She was found dead at an address in Dersingham, in Norfolk, in the early hours of Sunday...Her husband has appeared in court charged with her murder. In the last few moments, we've had a tribute from her family released via Norfolk Constabulary. It says we are devastated by the loss of our beautiful Hannah. She was kind, generous, and loving-a beloved mother, daughter, sister, auntie, daughter-in-law, and friend," she read.

The statement continued: "We are incredibly proud of the woman she was and of the great care she took of all her patients who knew her as Dr. Terry. We would ask people to respect our privacy at this difficult time."

Career and background

Dr Cain was a GP for the royals and would treat some of them when they stayed at Sandringham, including Queen Camilla. She was listed as a member of the practice team at Grimston Medical Centre. According to the website of a business she ran, Norfolk Sky Aesthetics, she has been a qualified doctor for more than 15 years and a GP for 8 years. She described herself as a "caring and professional doctor" who continued her work as a GP alongside her cosmetics business.

Court proceedings

Her husband, Mark Cain, 45, of Fern Hill, Dersingham, was arrested after the incident and charged with her murder on Tuesday afternoon. He appeared before Norwich Magistrates' Court on Wednesday. He spoke only to state his name, address and date of birth, and was not asked to enter a plea at this time. The couple's Fern Hill address is just over a mile from Sandringham House, one of the royal residences of the King and Queen.
