North East chippy Trenchers offers live music with fish and chips

Trenchers, a highly rated fish and chip restaurant in Whitley Bay, offers diners a unique experience: being serenaded by a pianist or live singer while enjoying their meal. Located in the iconic Spanish City dome, the restaurant provides what is considered the most stunning setting of any chippy in the region.

Live music schedule

On Wednesdays, Trenchers adds live music to its menu. A resident pianist performs from 2pm to 4pm, followed by an acoustic singer from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. This combination of food and entertainment has made it a popular destination for locals and visitors alike.

Award-winning reputation

Trenchers has received national acclaim, including winning Best Restaurant in the UK at the National Fish & Chip Awards 2020. It also received numerous nominations in a recent ChronicleLive poll asking readers to vote for the best fish and chip places in the North East in 2026. The poll, which garnered close to 1,000 votes at Easter, saw Hook in Seahouses take the top spot, while V Gorman's of Ashington finished in the top three again.
