Excitement is building in the Northumberland town of Morpeth as residents prepare for the arrival of a major new BBC drama. Letters have been delivered to local homes informing them that filming will take place in the town centre next week.
Morpeth Embraces the Spotlight
Morpeth is no stranger to the camera, having served as a backdrop for numerous television shows and blockbuster films. Now, the town is set to host a new BBC crime drama starring North East acting legend Robson Green. The series, titled The Northumbria Mysteries, has already filmed in locations such as Seahouses and Morpeth, and fans hope it will fill the void left by the end of Vera earlier last year.
Filming Schedule and Locations
According to the filming notice sent by production company Lonesome Pine, filming will take place on Monday, June 15 from 8am to 8pm, Tuesday from 10am to 8pm, and Wednesday for the same duration. The main street in Morpeth will be at the centre of the action, including the premises of multiple local businesses.
The notice reassures residents: "We will do the utmost to ensure your day-to-day remains as unaffected as possible." It also states that the production is working with permission from Northumberland County Council and expresses gratitude for the continued support and co-operation from residents and businesses.
A Boost for Local Economy and Tourism
The filming is expected to bring a boost to the local economy, with crew members and cast patronising local shops and eateries. The scenic beauty of Northumberland, from its wild countryside to its breathtaking coastline, continues to attract filmmakers, showcasing the region to a global audience.
