Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson surprised attendees at a Disney event in London by performing the hit song 'You're Welcome' from the Moana franchise. The 54-year-old actor and singer appeared at Potters Field on July 3, 2026, to celebrate the launch of Disney's live-action remake of the 2016 animated film, which is set to hit cinemas on July 10.
Attendees Stunned by Surprise Performance
Yinrun Huang, a star from the 2023 reboot of Big Brother UK, attended the event with her husband Luke and captured the moment on video. She described the experience as a 'core memory' and shared her excitement on social media. 'Maui sings to us LIVE! in London!' she gushed, referring to Johnson's character in the film.
Huang praised Johnson's singing voice, calling it 'such a great singing voice,' and also commended the British Theatre Academy dancers who performed alongside him. The crowd was initially buzzing with rumors, as Huang noted that before the performance, there were whispers and security guards everywhere, building tension.
Traditional Dances and Star Appearances
Before Johnson took the stage, attendees watched traditional Hula and Ori dances, which Huang said 'hyped up' the crowd with their passionate moves. They also saw Catherine Laga'aia, the 19-year-old actress playing Moana in the live-action remake, whom Huang described as a surreal sight.
When Johnson finally appeared, he walked onto the main stage next to a giant magical fish hook prop, similar to the one used in the film. 'Everyone was screaming at this point,' Huang recalled, calling the moment 'so magical.' Johnson waved at the crowd before launching into his performance of 'You're Welcome.'
Fans React to the Surprise
Fans online were equally thrilled. One wrote, 'Just when you think you couldn’t possibly love him anymore than you already do.' Another commented, 'Really great to see, thanks for sharing this, he's such a legend!!' Huang also received a fist bump from Johnson, which she replayed in slow motion on her video.
The event marked a memorable highlight for attendees, with many expressing jealousy over the close encounter. Johnson's impromptu performance added to the excitement surrounding the upcoming live-action Moana film, which has generated significant anticipation.
