Jack P Shepherd, who has played David Platt on Coronation Street since 2000, has landed a new acting role that will take him away from the cobbles this Christmas. The actor will make his pantomime debut as the Prince in Sleeping Beauty at Venue Cymru in Llandudno, running from December 12 to January 2. Fans have already speculated how his character David will be written out temporarily.
Fan Theories on David's Exit
On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, viewers shared their predictions. One wrote: 'I wonder how they are going to write David out to appear in Panto.' Another suggested: 'Probably visit his mum.' A third agreed: 'He'll just visit Gail.' A fourth added: 'Easy takes the baby to visit Gail.' Gail Platt, David's mother played by Helen Worth, currently lives in France, making a visit a plausible storyline.
David's recent weeks have been filled with drama involving his troubled sister-in-law Jodie Ramsay (Olivia Frances-Brown), who attempted to seduce him while he was drunk by pretending to be his wife Shona (Julia Goulding).
Jack P Shepherd's Panto Debut
Speaking about his new role, Shepherd said: 'I'm delighted to be joining the cast in Llandudno this festive season and can't wait to entertain audiences in this year's pantomime.' The shows are scheduled from December 12 to January 2 at Venue Cymru.
Personal Life News
Earlier this week, Shepherd and his wife Hanni Treweek welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Constance Ita Shepherd, born at home on June 26, 2026. The actor already has three children from previous relationships: Nyla Rae and Ruben with ex-girlfriend Lauren Shippey, and son Greyson with former partner Sammy Milewski.
Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
