The Terror: Devil in Silver Returns With Disturbing New Season
The Terror: Devil in Silver New Season Disturbs Fans

The psychological horror anthology series The Terror has returned with a third season, subtitled Devil in Silver, now available to UK audiences. All six episodes became available on August 23 on Sky and the broadcaster's streaming service NOW, with an entertainment pass.

The series originally premiered in 2018, followed by a second season in 2019, each with completely different and unconnected storylines. The new chapter stars Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens as a man from Queens, wrongly confined to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital, where he confronts sinister secrets and possibly the Devil himself.

What to Expect From the New Season

According to the synopsis, liberation means confronting what feeds on New Hyde's suffering, while it remains uncertain whether the most terrible demons lurk within him. The production employed a former prison for shooting, and star Judith Light described it as "very creepy. Totally creepy."

Unlike the first two seasons, which drew inspiration from real-life events and fictionalised them, Devil in Silver is a completely fictional narrative. It adapts the novel of the same title, published in 2012 and penned by Victor LaValle. Critics of the book describe it as "fantastical, hellish and hilarious."

Critical and Fan Reception

The series has proved a triumph with critics, currently achieving the highest score across all three seasons, securing a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. One critic declared: "Over six smart, gnarly episodes, the well-captured characters and their supernatural plights prove almost as gripping - and frightening - as the reality they're laying bare."

Another proclaimed: "The Devil in Silver tells an unnerving story that depicts a visceral, timely side of terror that is the most disturbing of the anthology series' three seasons." Fans who have already watched it have shared their endorsements online, with one calling it "a must-watch for fans of horror and drama" and another saying: "Creepy, entertaining, and definitely worth watching. A mix between 1408 and American Horror Story, creating a creepy and unsettling atmosphere throughout. There were several genuinely scary moments, especially when the doctor's eyes changed-that scene was incredibly disturbing."

Those wishing to revisit the earlier portions of the anthology can still access them at no additional charge on ITVX. The Terror: Devil in Silver is streaming on Sky and NOW.
