Robson Green appeared in high spirits as cameras rolled on Monday for the new BBC detective drama The Northumbria Mysteries in Morpeth, Northumberland. The actor, known for his roles in Soldier Soldier and Grantchester, is set to star as Joe, an ex-convict and gambler who teams up with Oxford-educated DI Rose O'Connell to solve crimes. Filming is expected to continue in Morpeth throughout the week.
Production Details
Over recent months, the cast and crew have been spotted at various locations, including Morpeth town centre and Seahouses, where Robson once stopped for coffee at the Milk & Honey ice cream shop. On Monday, filming took place near the River Coquet, following letters sent to local residents about the production schedule.
The series, produced by Newcastle-based Lonesome Pine, is anticipated to fill the void left by ITV's Vera, which concluded earlier this year after 14 seasons. The Northumbria Mysteries is slated for BBC One's daytime schedule.
Robson's Insight
Robson described the show as “a show for everyone who’s ever made mistakes, but who haven’t given up just yet,” adding that viewers will be kept guessing until the end. The drama promises twists and turns, with Robson noting that just when you think you've solved the crime, you haven't.
