Robson Green Spotted Filming Northumbria Mysteries in Morpeth
The historic town of Morpeth became the centre of filming action on Monday as production continued on the new BBC drama series The Northumbria Mysteries. Lead actor Robson Green was seen around the town, delighting fans of both Vera and Grantchester.
The BBC announced the commission earlier this year, with Robson taking on the role of Joe Rigby, an ex-convict and gambler with criminal connections. He teams up with Oxford-educated DI Rose O'Connell to solve mysteries. Previewing the plot, Robson shared: 'It's about two people who are polar opposites but want to change. Joe has many regrets and seeks redemption, while Rose has always done the right thing but not always with the best outcomes.'
He further explained the dynamic: 'They want to make a difference in different ways. One wants to become more spiritual, the other more meaningful. They don't expect to help each other but come from completely different worlds. Both have good hearts but bad habits, and they're ready to think outside the box.'
Filming had already taken place in Morpeth prior to Monday, with Robson spotted on a bike as cameras rolled in the town centre. Residents received letters informing them of locations to be used. ChronicleLive captured photos of the action, which can be seen below.
