Richard E. Grant, Tom Ellis, Geoff Bell, Paul Freeman, Sarah Niles and Ingrid Oliver have joined the star-studded cast of Netflix and Amblin's upcoming film adaptation of Richard Osman's novel The Thursday Murder Club. The crime-comedy, currently filming, is directed by Chris Columbus.

The new additions join an already impressive ensemble including Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Celia Imrie, David Tennant, Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays and Henry Lloyd-Hughes. The film follows a group of friends in a retirement home who solve murders for fun, only to find themselves caught in a real case.

Mirren will play Elizabeth, a former spy; Kingsley will portray Ibrahim, an ex-psychiatrist; Brosnan will take on the role of Ron, a former union activist; and Imrie will play Joyce, an ex-nurse. The four leads form the titular Thursday Murder Club.

Osman, best known in the UK as the presenter of BBC's Richard Osman's House of Games and former quizmaster on Pointless, described the cast as 'the greatest British cast assembled since the Harry Potter movies'. The film is produced by Jennifer Todd and Chris Columbus, with executive producers including Holly Bario, Jeb Brody, Eleanor Columbus and Jo Burn.

Based on Osman's 2020 novel, the movie is part of the ongoing partnership between Netflix and Amblin, which also includes the upcoming Carry-On starring Jason Bateman and Taron Egerton. Filming is now underway.
