ITV's This Morning descended into unexpected chaos on Tuesday's episode when Hollywood icon Jamie Lee Curtis let slip a profanity during a live broadcast, forcing presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley to issue an immediate on-air apology.
The Live Broadcast Blunder
During the November show, hosts Ben Shephard, 50, and Cat Deeley, 49, were interviewing the 67-year-old actress about her latest film, Ella McCay, which co-stars Woody Harrelson and Emma Mackey. The conversation took an unexpected turn when the discussion shifted to I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! after the presenters crossed to 2023 champion Sam Thompson for jungle updates.
Jamie Lee Curtis quipped, "I'm A Celeb? I'm a celeb!" prompting Ben and Cat to ask if she would ever consider entering the jungle herself. The Oscar-winner responded with enthusiastic clarity: "No, f**k no!" She immediately followed her expletive with a startled "whoops" as she realised her slip-up.
The Immediate Aftermath and Apology
The presenting duo found themselves having to address the profanity directly after returning from a commercial break. Cat Deeley told viewers: "Hello there, welcome back, we'd just like to say very sorry for Jamie Lee Curtis' language..."
Ben Shephard then elaborated with characteristic humour, stating: "As we went into the break, I asked her if she'd go into the jungle and she was pretty adamant, in an Oscar-winning way, that she wasn't going to go into the jungle. So apologies if anyone was offended for the language that she used but it felt official it was a 'no' going into the jungle."
Viewer Reactions and Freaky Friday Future
The incident quickly sparked reactions on social media platform X, formerly Twitter. One viewer commented: "And she just dropped the f bomb live on TV would you go into the jungle? Nooo f(_) ck off oops #thismorning" accompanied by laughing emojis.
Another fan tweeted: "Lmao not Jamie swearing live YASSSS #thismorning", while a different viewer wrote: "How could you not love Jamie Lee Curtis? She's an absolute legend! #ThisMorning."
During the same interview, Curtis was questioned about the potential for a third Freaky Friday film. The actress, who starred alongside Lindsay Lohan in the 2003 original and appeared in this summer's sequel Freakier Friday, dismissed the possibility.
She explained that for another sequel to work, her young co-stars Julia Butters and Sophia Hammons - aged 16 and 18 respectively - would need to be old enough to have children, meaning they'd be in their thirties. Curtis concluded definitively: "There won't be another not with me!"
This Morning continues on weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV X.
