Sir David Jason had a 'poignant' reaction when he reunited with his Only Fools and Horses co-stars for a new documentary celebrating the show's 45th anniversary. The 85-year-old actor, best known for playing Del Boy, watched previously unseen footage alongside fellow cast members, including Tessa Peake-Jones, who played Raquel Turner.
Speaking on Wednesday's Lorraine, Peake-Jones described Jason's response as 'quite depressing' after he remarked, 'Oh we were so young and successful back then.' She explained that the actors were shown cut scenes that had been unearthed from the BBC archives, some of which were removed because they 'weren't funny enough' or were too long and sad.
The two-part series, titled Only Fools and Horses: The Lost Archive, will air on U&GOLD in 2026. It includes 66 unseen clips and nearly 100 assets from rushes and location filming. Series producer Sean Doherty said the material was 'filmed but never broadcast' due to timing or structural reasons.
Jason himself reflected on the show's enduring popularity, stating, 'The love for Only Fools has never faded. Revisiting these rediscovered moments reminded me just how special the show was - and still is.' The documentary will also feature behind-the-scenes footage and reactions from the cast.
