Brian Cox, the actor who played Logan Roy in HBO's Succession, has expressed mixed feelings about his character's early death in the final season. In a recent interview, Cox admitted he hasn't watched the finale, stating, 'I'm dead! Dead people don't watch things like that.' He noted that Logan's demise in the third episode left him 'disinclined to watch the rest.'
Cox has previously hinted that Logan might not be as dead as viewers think, and he has been vocal about the timing of the death. While the show's creators intended the death to shake up the narrative, Cox suggests that the series lost some momentum after Logan's departure. The Roy siblings quickly returned to their petty squabbles, and the introduction of new antagonist Lukas Matsson felt like a substitute for Logan's oppressive presence.
Critics argue that Cox's performance as Logan—a character described as Shakespearean in his operatic rage—gave the show its ballast. Without him, the series struggled to maintain the same intensity. While Logan's death was necessary for the plot, many believe it came too early, leaving a void that the remaining episodes couldn't fully fill.
