BBC Breakfast viewers have expressed outrage over the programme's extensive coverage of Taylor Swift's rumoured wedding to Travis Kelce, with some threatening to switch off. Presenters Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty reported on the speculation during Friday's broadcast, detailing plans for a celebration at New York's Madison Square Garden.
Naga Munchetty announced: 'Celebrations have kicked off at New York's Madison Square Garden for one of the most anticipated weddings of the year.' Charlie Stayt added: 'Speculation about the ceremony has been rife. Although the plans are secret, there have been suggestions that the couple may have already tied the knot in a private ceremony.'
The coverage sparked a flurry of complaints on social media. One viewer wrote: 'Taylor Swift wedding… who gives a f**k,' while another said: 'I really couldn't give a t**s about Taylor Swift!' A third commented: 'Gonna go to ITV soon if you don't STFU about Taylor Swift. It's that bad.'
BBC Breakfast's North American correspondent Nada Tawfik provided further details, reporting that around 100 relatives and friends attended a pre-party, with a larger celebration expected later. She noted that 1,000 guests from entertainment and sport were invited, though it remains unconfirmed whether the couple have already married privately.
