Ben Affleck's acclaimed heist thriller 'The Town' is now available to stream on Netflix. The 2010 film, which Affleck directed, co-wrote, and starred in, has been praised as one of the greatest heist movies ever made.
The film follows Doug MacRay (Affleck), the leader of a ruthless gang of bank robbers from Boston. After taking a bank manager hostage during a heist, one of the gang members begins a relationship with her, leading to escalating tension and moral dilemmas.
The ensemble cast includes Jeremy Renner, who earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor, alongside Blake Lively, Jon Hamm, Rebecca Hall, and Pete Postlethwaite. The film holds a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Fans have compared it favourably to Michael Mann's 'Heat', with one viewer calling it 'second only to Heat for the greatest heist movie ever made'. Another described it as 'the best movie made by Ben Affleck', praising the performances and the film's emotional depth.
'The Town' is an adaptation of Chuck Hogan's novel 'Prince of Thieves' and is widely regarded as Affleck's finest directorial work, surpassing even his Oscar-winning 'Argo'.
