Nicole Kidman's 'addictive' Prime Video drama Nine Perfect Strangers is set to become free to stream in the UK. ITV confirmed on Monday (August 24) that the series, which has a giant following, is coming to its streaming platform.
Kidman's Star-Studded Series
Based on the best-seller by Liane Moriarty, the first season of Nine Perfect Strangers premiered back in 2021 on Amazon Prime Video. Sporting a Russian accent, it sees Kidman taking on a role unlike any she's played before.
Its synopsis reads: “Nine Perfect Strangers is set at a boutique resort which promises healing and transformation to nine stressed city dwellers. Watching over them during the ten-day retreat is resort director Masha (Nicole Kidman). “A woman on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies. However, these nine perfect strangers have no idea what is about to hit them.”
Cast and Coming to ITVX
Directed by David E. Kelley, who also directed Kidman in Big Little Lies, the series contains one of the most star-studded casts of recent years. Joining Kidman is some of Hollywood's most popular stars. The first season includes Bridesmaids’ Melissa McCarthy, Knives Out’s Michael Shannon, Beauty and the Beast’s Luke Evans, Ant Man’s Bobby Cannavale, One Battle After Another’s Regina Hall, Ready or Not’s Samara Weaving, High Flying Bird’s Melvin Gregg, Offspring’s Asher Keddie and Tell Me Lies’s Grace Van Patten.
The ITV spokesperson added: “A suspense-filled drama filled with lighter comedic moments, the series explores how far people will go to face their personal demons and get well, shining a light on the world of health and wellness and our constant quest for self-improvement.”
All eight episodes of Nine Perfect Strangers will be available to stream on ITVX from Sunday, September 27. There’s no word yet on if the second season will become available to stream in due course. Following a four year hiatus, season two saw nine new strangers invited by Kidman’s wellness celebrity guru in the Austrian Alps. Season 2’s cast was led by Murray Bartlett, best known for playing a luxury resort manager in the first season of The White Lotus, and also included Schitt’s Creek’s Annie Murphy, The Good Wife’s Christine Baranski, Kingsman’s Mark Strong and Crazy Rich Asians’ Henry Golding.
