Prince William forced a smile while serving popcorn at a community cinema in west London, just after facing questions about his uncle's new tell-all memoir on Princess Diana. The Prince of Wales handed out snacks at ActOne cinema in Acton, scooping popcorn into cardboard tubs and leaning over the counter to pass them to visitors.
Dressed in a navy suit, white shirt and dark tie, the royal appeared composed in photographs, grinning alongside a staff member behind the counter. Another image shows him looking into a red popcorn machine while carefully scooping out the treats.
Questions over Earl Spencer's memoir
The visit came as journalists outside the venue shouted questions, asking whether William had read Earl Charles Spencer's new book, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister. The book is set to be released on Tuesday and is already displayed in bookshop windows across London, with sources claiming William is privately "livid" over its claims about the Royal Family and his father, King Charles.
When asked directly how he felt about the memoir, William remained silent, keeping his head down and walking straight inside to continue his official duties.
Support for independent cinema
During the engagement, the future king met local creators, young filmmakers and representatives from the Film and TV Charity, highlighting the importance of Britain's independent cinema industry.
While Earl Spencer insists William was warned about the book's contents, palace aides issued a statement noting that grief can often "distort" memories.
