Prince George, who will celebrate his 13th birthday later this month, was once treated to private tennis lessons taught by Wimbledon legend Roger Federer. The lessons, arranged by the Princess of Wales, took place in 2019 when George was just six years old.
Royal Tennis Enthusiast
The young royal is known to be a keen sports fan, with tennis being one of his sporting interests. George has previously attended Wimbledon with his parents and younger sister, but this experience gave him a unique opportunity that few others can claim.
Wimbledon champion Federer has shared details about the lesson, saying: "At that stage, it's all about just touching the ball, it's already good. Same with my boys." According to OK! magazine, Federer also acknowledged he has an "advantage" in being one of George's favourite players. He said: "I think I have a little advantage that I actually spent some time, you know, with him. I'm the only player he's ever met. Then you have a little head start in who is your favourite player."
Royal Family and Wimbledon
Although his older siblings have attended Wimbledon in the past, eight-year-old Prince Louis is yet to make his debut at the annual tennis tournaments. This year's tournaments are underway, with the final matches scheduled for July 12. Catherine, the Princess of Wales, who is the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, has previously presented the trophy on the court.
