Princess Catherine and Princess Eugenie reportedly both felt pressure when announcing their children's names, it has been revealed. Just this week, Eugenie confirmed the name of her newborn baby two weeks after she was born.
Eugenie's baby name announcement
Sharing new photographs of the royal baby on Instagram, Eugenie confirmed that her and her husband Jack Brooksbank have named their baby Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank. The names are all believed to have links to family and people they hold dear.
With the announcement of the name taking two whole weeks, it is believed that Eugenie may have felt the pressure when picking a name that Princess Catherine also felt.
Catherine's previous revelation
It was not known Catherine felt any pressure about picking the names of her three children Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, eight, until a few years ago. She made the revelation on a royal engagement which saw her talk to new parents at the maternity unit of the Royal Surrey County Hospital.
Amy Stubbs, deputy director of midwifery, said at the time that Catherine had spoken about how hard it was choosing names. Amy said: "She (Catherine) just really talked about her own children, including how they chose their names."
Family connections in royal names
The hospital staff member continued: "A lot of the new mums and dads are thinking about how to choose names for their babies, and they spoke with her about how Kate and William made their choice. She said they were their favourite names and that obviously the world was waiting for them to name their children—and that felt like quite a big pressure!"
Catherine and William are believed to have chosen the names of their children together, naming their eldest Prince George Alexander Louis. They then named their daughter Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, and gave their youngest son the name of Prince Louis Arthur Charles. All these names were believed to have been chosen with family connections in mind.
