Traitors Contestant Details BBC Producers' Intervention Following Finale Fury
A participant from the latest series of The Traitors has disclosed that BBC executives were compelled to intervene after his explosive response to a dramatic last-minute betrayal during the climactic final episode. Faithful Jack Butler, who endured three challenging weeks in the Scottish castle and reached the endgame, was banished at the final hurdle by Traitors Rachel Duffy and Stephen Libby, the latter of whom he considered his closest ally.
Intense Emotional Aftermath and Producer Calming
Speaking after the finale broadcast on Friday night, the personal trainer admitted the immediate aftermath of his banishment was highly emotional, revealing that BBC bosses stepped in to calm him down. He told The Mail on Sunday: "The first ten minutes after it happened, I was absolutely steaming. I was so angry and I got pulled into a room with the producers and I was calmed down a little bit." Jack explained that the intense anger subsided quickly, as he realised the situation was not life-threatening, but acknowledged the psychological toll of the game.
Betrayal by Trusted Ally Stephen Libby
Jack elaborated that Stephen's convincing performance throughout the series had led him to believe he was a genuine Faithful, making the final betrayal particularly difficult to process. "I think Stephen really acted fantastically in putting on the facade of being a faithful in the earlier episodes. We really clicked and we get on so well. We're very similar," he said. Jack noted that it was only at the end when Stephen revealed his vote that the deception became clear, praising both Stephen and Rachel for their phenomenal gameplay.
Missed Prize Money and Subsequent Proposal
Viewers had been hopeful that Jack would win the £95,750 prize pot, especially after he shared his plans to use the money for a house deposit and to propose to his girlfriend, Kay. Although he missed out on the cash, Jack proceeded to propose months later in Santorini, describing a near-disaster due to motion sickness during a yacht tour. He recounted how the crew assisted in the surprise, and despite the rocky conditions, the proposal went perfectly.
Wedding Plans and Series Conclusion
Jack confirmed that all his Traitors co-stars will be invited to the wedding, jokingly suggesting that Rachel and Stephen could contribute to the big day. The final episode saw the remaining players banish Faraaz before turning on Jack in a second vote, leaving Rachel and Stephen emotional as host Claudia Winkleman confirmed their victory, concluding another intense series of the BBC show.
