A former Emmerdale star has joined Coronation Street as part of Sarah Platt's prison ordeal, with the storyline reportedly set to "get much darker".
Actress Emma Grace Arends is playing a character named Lottie. She shared photos on her social media of her time on the soap. A source told The Sun: "Things are only going to get worse for Sarah as she faces years in prison for what she's done. It's going to get much darker."
Sarah's dramatic months on the cobbles
Sarah (Tina O'Brien) has had a dramatic few weeks on the cobbles. Last month, she was arrested for the murder of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), who had abused her best friend Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) for over a year.
Sarah had killed Theo in April after she attacked him with a metal pole on top of the scaffolding, sending him falling over the edge and to the ground below. Sarah then enlisted the help of former flame and friend Gary Windass (Mikey North) to cover up the crime.
Arrest and imprisonment
Despite her copper boyfriend Kit Green's (Jacob Roberts) attempts to help her get away with the crime, Sarah was arrested on suspicion of killing Theo. At first, she pleaded her innocence, but the evidence was stacked against her.
As a result, DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) said she had no choice but to charge Sarah with Theo's murder, and Sarah was sent to prison. Sarah's imprisonment has since continued, and she ended up getting attacked by an inmate.
Blackmail and attack in prison
Things went from bad to worse as Sarah found herself being blackmailed by another inmate, Kacey (Emma Matthews). Kacey wanted Sarah to get Kit to get her son off the hook for a reported armed robbery. When Sarah told Kacey there was nothing she could do, Kacey brutally attacked Sarah in her cell.
It has now been claimed a former Emmerdale star is appearing on Corrie as part of Sarah's prison ordeal storyline.
Emma Grace Arends' acting credits
Emma appeared twice on rival soap Emmerdale. Her first stint was when she played a crisis worker in 2021 supporting Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh), who was battling postnatal depression. She then returned to the soap in 2023, this time playing an unnamed nurse who assisted Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) after her son was rushed to hospital with bacterial meningitis.
