Emmerdale's Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) reacts very badly to the shock news that Samson Dingle (Sam Hall) is coming home from prison, and in doing so alienates her entire family.
It comes as one Dingle heads to prison while another is released. Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) is preparing himself as best he can for his court date and some time behind bars, just as Moira gets the news that Samson is coming home. She finds out in an awkward fashion – Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) is struggling to sleep with Baby Leyla at the farm, and Moira offers him to move in with the Dingles.
A dangerous reunion
Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor Draper) knows this is a bad move as she is secretly aware of Samson's impending release but keeps that little detail to herself for the time being.
The problem is that Samson is in prison for lying to the police that Matty stabbed him, which saw Matty wrongfully imprisoned – a dangerous place for a transgender person to be. It almost broke Matty, and had Samson not come clean, Matty was looking at quite the stretch inside.
Samson had fallen in with a bad crowd, which saw him attempt to rob the Hide. Matty had thwarted the robbery with a knife in his hand and accidentally stabbed Samson, who was pressured to lie to the police, which ultimately saw Matty temporarily imprisoned. So, the two lads not just sharing a roof but sharing a bedroom could be awkward.
Family fallout
Moira finds out Samson is due to come home when Sam Dingle (James Hooton) and Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) kick off about Matty taking his room. Moira holds her ground, but finds herself alienated from the rest of the family for her stance that Samson is a wrong-un.
She gets a talking to from a surprise person – Matty. He tells her she needs to forgive and let go. But can she?
