Jimmy King crashed his car into the Tate wedding marquee in Emmerdale, leaving himself, Joe Tate and Dawn Taylor seriously injured, with all three lives hanging in the balance. The dramatic incident unfolded during Joe and Dawn's wedding ceremony, which had been marred by revelations and a last-minute escape plot.
Wedding Day Chaos
On Wednesday (August 26), Joe Tate was ready to marry Dawn Taylor, but Caleb Miligan spoiled the occasion by revealing Dawn and Billy Fletcher's planned escape. Earlier, Dawn had planned to jilt Joe after Billy told her that Joe was the one who attacked him at the Depot, though viewers know it was actually Kev Barton who struck Billy. In a bid to keep Joe away from his family, Billy had been desperate to keep the truth hidden.
Before the wedding, Graham Foster tried to stop Dawn from leaving Joe but ended up tied up in the Home Farm stables after Dawn hit him over the head with a shovel. Dawn later discovered Billy had lied about the attack and, facing a self-destructive Joe who had been drinking, made an emotional plea for them to still marry.
Jimmy's Secret Debt
Meanwhile, Jimmy King had been hiding a mountain of debt from Nicola, even selling his family business to Caleb and Ruby. He decided to surprise Nicola with a romantic gesture of renewing their wedding vows, but his plan took a tragic turn when his car crashed through the marquee, leaving him bleeding and unconscious, with Dawn and Joe on the ground surrounded by destruction.
Viewers are concerned for Jimmy following unconfirmed reports that actor Nick Miles would be leaving the ITV soap. Nick Miles joined Emmerdale on February 19, 2004, as part of the new King family, alongside his father Tom and his brothers. He married Nicola in 2010 after his previous marriage to Sadie King, who is set to return to Emmerdale this year.
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX and YouTube from 7am.
