Emmerdale fans 'rumble' real reason behind Jimmy's car crash

Emmerdale fans believe they have discovered the real reason behind Jimmy King's dramatic car crash into the marquee, with some suggesting he was poisoned rather than suffering a heart attack at the wheel.

Jimmy (Nick Miles) has been a fixture on the long-running ITV soap since 2004 and has become one of the show's most cherished characters. He has been central to several major storylines, from his marriage to Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) to being stabbed.

Jimmy's surprise picnic plan

In May, it was reported that Jimmy would be killed off, and fans have been speculating how his exit storyline might unfold. Recently, his relationship with Nicola has hit a rocky patch, with Nicola trying to reignite the spark in their marriage.

In Wednesday's episode (August 26), it emerged that Jimmy had been planning a surprise picnic for Nicola. He instructed her to meet him at their special spot on the Home Farm land, reports the Daily Star.

The crash and fan theories

Later, just as Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) arrived at the marquee in a bid to win back Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) on their wedding day, a car came hurtling into the marquee. The driver was swiftly confirmed to be Jimmy, who was found unconscious, while Joe and Dawn were seen lying amongst the debris.

While some viewers believe Jimmy suffered a heart attack at the wheel, other fans have put forward a theory pointing the finger at his ex Sadie King (Patsy Kensit). Taking to an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one viewer speculated: "I think he was poisoned." Another responded: "By Sadie? She's returning soon, isn't she?" A third concurred: "Yeah, that would make sense with her coming back."

Boss hints at Sadie's return

Emmerdale boss Laura Shaw dropped a hint about Sadie's comeback at a recent press event. She said: "It's Sadie King. I feel like, of course, she's got an agenda. What I can say is the reason that Sadie comes back and the secret she comes back with is gonna be absolutely shocking. And whether all is quite as it seems, we shall see as the story progresses, but it's gonna be pretty big and pretty shocking."

Laura continued: "We've definitely tried to bring Sadie back every bit in a dramatic way as she arrived last time. So, I think her arrival will be every bit as amazing and brilliant as the first time around. I think probably the most shocking thing is definitely the reason that brings her back. It's undoubtedly one of the biggest secrets we've ever had within the King family, and it's gonna be pretty explosive."

Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 8:00pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
