Lawyers for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor have been contacted by the production team of a new film set to dramatize the former prince’s alleged scandals. Titled The Janitor, the movie stars Peaky Blinders actor Harry Kirton as a publicist who cleans up scandals for high-profile names, with one scene dubbed ‘The Table of Filth’ reportedly recreating episodes from the former prince’s downfall.
Former prince declines to engage
Producers for the film have yet to confirm who will play Andrew, who has consistently denied any wrongdoing. In February, the former Duke of York was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office over allegations he gave confidential information to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He was released later that day and remains under investigation by Thames Valley Police into his time as UK trade envoy in the early 2000s.
Lawyers for Andrew were contacted by the producers, who offered the disgraced royal a chance to give his side of the story before the script is finalised, according to the Mail on Sunday. However, it is believed Mr Mountbatten-Windsor has declined to engage with the production, which could be released before Christmas. The Mirror has contacted Buckingham Palace, which did not wish to comment, and Andrew’s lawyers have also been contacted for comment.
Fictionalised scenes and backlash preparations
In one fictionalised scene, a reporter hands the former prince the infamous picture of himself with Virginia Giuffre, who claimed she was forced to have sex with him when she was 17 – an allegation he has always denied. The former duke’s ex-girlfriend Lady Victoria Hervey, 49, will also be portrayed in the film, though it is not known who will play her.
A production source said the film’s legal team has ‘bullet-proofed every single frame’ and is prepared for backlash upon the movie’s release. The insider added it drags ‘into the daylight some of the most toxic cover-ups in modern British history’.
Family estrangement and isolation
The news comes after a friend of Andrew said he turned down the King’s invitation to join the Royal Family at Balmoral for the traditional summer break. A pal of the former Duke of York alleges he rejected the invitation as he feared he would be treated like an ‘outcast’ if he travelled there.
It is believed his older brother Charles, who stripped Mr Mountbatten-Windsor of his royal titles and booted him out of his Royal Lodge mansion, has not seen him this year, despite the two being only a mile apart when the monarch stays at Sandringham. It is thought only Prince Edward has seen him since he was arrested on his 66th birthday and moved to Marsh Farm, following new claims about his association with Jeffrey Epstein. He was last seen publicly with members of the Firm at the funeral of the Duchess of Kent last September.
A friend of Mr Mountbatten-Windsor's told The Sun: "Andrew feels he’s been abandoned. He feels like he is no longer part of the family. He was invited but has got no great desire to be at Balmoral as he has nothing to gain and would be treated as an outcast. What’s the point, he feels, of going all the way there for a much-needed holiday and being treated as an elephant in the room?"
