Madonna was joined by Kylie Minogue for a surprise performance at WorldPride in Amsterdam. The 67-year-old released her 15th studio album, Confessions II, last month and has been promoting it through Club Confession events around the world. After stops in Los Angeles, London, New York City and Paris, she confirmed this week that she would host the event in Amsterdam, which is currently hosting WorldPride.
During her set early on Sunday morning, Minogue, 58, appeared as a surprise guest. The pair performed Love Sensation from Confessions II together. Minogue later posted a behind-the-scenes clip on Instagram, showing herself dancing backstage before joining Madonna on stage, where confetti fell over the crowd.
A Surprise Amsterdam Duet
Tagging Madonna, whose full name is Madonna Louise Ciccone, Minogue captioned the post: "Thank you everyone at Club Confessions World Pride Amsterdam." The two stars previously shared the stage during Madonna's Celebration tour in Los Angeles in 2024. Earlier in the week, Madonna had teased her appearance with a post in Dutch reading "IK HEB IETS WAAR IK OVER WIL PRATEN", which translates to "I've got something I wanna talk about."
Chart Success and Past Jealousy
Before the album's release, Madonna sat down with Graham Norton and admitted to once being jealous of Minogue. During the interview, which also featured Minogue, Madonna told the Australian singer she was "a little bit jealous" of her. She continued: "Se was so cute. I think my ex-husband at the time (Guy Ritchie) had a crush on her, and I was like, 'I'll never be as beautiful as Kylie'."
Following the release of Confessions II, the album topped charts worldwide, including in the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia. Madonna became the first US female artist to earn a number one album across five decades. Ahead of its release, she staged a surprise pop-up concert in Times Square to kick off Pride Month, performing six songs, including hits from the 2005 album and previews of new tracks.
