Celine Dion's Paris Residency Ticket Presale Sparks Fan Frustration Over Website Glitches
Fans of pop icon Celine Dion have rushed to secure pre-sale access to her highly anticipated live comeback, only to encounter a glitching website and a convoluted 'queue for a queue' system. The 58-year-old singer announced on Instagram that she will perform a 10-night residency at the 40,000-capacity Paris La Défense Arena in September and October, marking her return to the stage amid a battle with Stiff Person Syndrome.
Technical Issues and Long Wait Times Plague Registration Process
Fans were informed they could register for a presale raffle starting April 6, with a general sale following on April 10. However, many reported significant problems with the website operated by American-based digital ticketing company AXS. Users faced long wait times, with some queuing for up to four hours just to register, and others experiencing glitches that prevented them from completing the process.
One fan expressed their exasperation on social media, stating:'There is a waiting line to register to the raffle that might get you a code for presale for Céline Dion in Paris. Yep. A queue. For a queue. To maybe get a code. To queue again on D-Day.'Additional complaints included website errors, such as cards being repeatedly refused and sessions abruptly ending, leading to widespread annoyance among eager concertgoers.
Translation and Payment Hurdles Add to the Chaos
Once fans managed to access the site, many struggled with language barriers, as the information was presented entirely in French without easy translation options. A fan humorously noted their reliance on long-forgotten French A-Level skills to navigate the registration. Furthermore, UK fans encountered issues with the presale system not accepting their postcodes, and some noted the absence of a UK dropdown option for payment, despite other countries being listed.
A frustrated UK fan shared:'doesn’t accept my postcode. no UK DROPDOWN, although i’m in scotland doesn’t accept correct postcode and messed about to see what it will take. SHAMBLES. every country in world in dropdown for payment apart from UK.'Security Concerns and AXS Response
Some fans raised security concerns when asked for credit card information during registration, fearing potential scams. AXS clarified that cards are not charged at this stage but are used to verify that registrants are genuine fans and not bots. Despite this assurance, the requirement added to the anxiety surrounding the ticketing process.
Celine Dion's announcement has generated immense excitement, as she described her comeback as 'the best gift of my life' while managing her health. The singer, who revealed her Stiff Person Syndrome diagnosis in 2022, expressed gratitude for fan support and eagerness to perform again. This residency represents a significant milestone in her career and personal journey, making the ticketing difficulties all the more disappointing for devoted followers.
