Big Walk, the co-op adventure from House House, the studio behind Untitled Goose Game, has sold over one million copies in just six days since its launch on August 4, 2026. Publisher Panic confirmed the milestone, making it the latest indie success story of the year.
Highest-rated game on Metacritic
The game currently holds the top spot on Metacritic with a score of 92, based on 22 reviews, ahead of Forza Horizon 6 and Mina The Hollower. Our review gave it a 9/10, calling it 'one of the best releases of the year'.
In a post on X, Panic expressed gratitude: 'We are so grateful that so many of you are spending time with our game. And we deeply appreciate your fanart, your streams, and your moments. Thank you for playing.'
Sales breakdown and platform performance
The one million figure does not include PS Plus downloads. Big Walk is available to PS Plus Essential subscribers on PlayStation 5 at no extra cost in August, so most players on that console likely accessed it that way. The game is also on PC, where it ranks third on Steam's top sellers, and on Nintendo Switch 2, where it is fourth on the eShop, suggesting the bulk of sales come from those platforms.
For comparison, last year's indie co-op hit Peak also surpassed one million copies in six days and went on to sell over 10 million in two months. Big Walk's performance, while strong, trails Hollow Knight: Silksong, which sold over 3 million copies in three days on Steam alone, and Meccha Chameleon, which reached three million sales in a week.
Indie and AAA comparisons
Despite not matching those records, Big Walk's achievement is significant for a small team. It rivals sales figures in the AAA space: Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced hit three million in its first week, and Capcom's Pragmata sold 2.5 million in 16 days.
According to estimates, Meccha Chameleon remains the highest-selling game of 2026 so far with over 15 million copies sold, ahead of EA Sports FC 26, Resident Evil Requiem, and Forza Horizon 6.
