Tom Zanetti has put his heart and soul into his new party restaurant venue in Marbella, overcoming a traumatic few years that included the death of his girlfriend and financial struggles. The 36-year-old DJ, who describes himself as an "idiot from Leeds who just can't stop," is celebrating a successful first fortnight at Zanettis Marbella after a series of devastating events.
Heartbreaking Losses
Tom's world was shattered when his girlfriend Lizzie died in a car crash on the same stretch of motorway where his grandad and uncle had been killed a year earlier. He became addicted to sleeping pills and in 2017 survived a Ferrari crash. Reflecting on his grief, Tom said: "I've had a rough few years, in a nutshell it's been horrible - really horrible."
New Venture in Marbella
Tom first visited Marbella to de-stress but was offered the opportunity to open a restaurant. He refurbished the venue, organized staff, and sorted the menu in just seven weeks. "It's a vibrant dinner and dancing experience," he said. "We sold out the three-day launch weekend without a menu!"
Fatherhood and Recovery
Tom became a father at 16 and his son Deaconn, now 19, is a rising football star at Chesterfield. Tom credits counseling with changing his life: "The best decision I ever made was to get help and see a counsellor. When things seem dark, just keep going step by step until you see the light again."
TV Stint and Love Life
Tom appeared on Celebs Go Dating in 2021, where he met Sophie Hermann from Made in Chelsea. Though the relationship ended, he said: "It was a crazy experience. I managed to pull the unpullable girl!"
Despite the trauma, Tom remains positive: "I'll always think to myself when I'm down now, I know it's going to get better. Time heals."
