Zoë Kravitz has revealed that she is in the process of having several of her tattoos removed. The 33-year-old actress discussed her decision in a cover story interview with GQ, explaining that she no longer feels the need to keep certain tattoos on her body.
“Just things, I’m like: ‘I don’t need this on my body,’” Kravitz said. Among the tattoos she is removing is a star on her middle finger, which she got at age 18 and has been fading.
This is not the first time the Batman star has spoken about her tattoos. In an April 2021 interview with InStyle, she admitted she has lost count of how many tattoos she has and likes some more than others. “I think tattoos are a beautiful form of adornment, just like makeup or jewellery. It’s funny because I don’t even know how many I have,” she said.
Kravitz also revealed her thought process behind removing some tattoos while planning to get more. “I have gotten a few removed, but I plan on getting more tattoos. Once you’re into it, it’s hard to stop,” she explained.
In April 2018, she told the same publication that she views tattoos as “an expression of beauty”. She said, “I think the fact that they’re permanent is such a wonderfully intense thing. It’s a deep way to adorn yourself, and I think they’re beautiful aesthetically.”
Elsewhere in the GQ interview, Kravitz reflected on turning 30 and how it changed her perspective on domesticity. “There’s something romantic and exciting about being like: Oh, I’m an adult. I stay home and cook now. I bake bread,” she said, adding that after a couple of years, she realised there is still a lot of life to be had.
