Zoe Ball has spoken out after missing out on the hosting role for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing. The 55-year-old broadcaster confirmed she underwent screen tests for the position but was ultimately unsuccessful.
Discussing the snub, Ball said she was “working through the seven stages of grief and rejection”. She added: “No, I didn't get it, but I tell you, what, if who I think has got it, we're in safe hands and our new hosts are going to be fabulous. I'm so thrilled for them.”
The new hosting trio consists of Emma Willis, comedian Josh Widdicombe and professional dancer Johannes Radebe. They will take over from Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, who announced their departure from the programme in October 2025.
Meanwhile, EastEnders star Lacey Turner has been announced as the first contestant for the new series. The 38-year-old, currently on an extended break from playing Stacey Slater, expressed her excitement at joining the show.
“I am a huge fan and can't quite believe I will be taking part and not watching at home this year!” Turner said. The announcement was met with enthusiasm from Strictly professionals and judge Motsi Mabuse.
