X Factor star Amelia Lily has announced the birth of her first child, a daughter named Pearl McQueen, with fiancé Eddie McQueen. The 30-year-old singer revealed the news on Instagram on Tuesday, sharing photos of the newborn and describing the pregnancy as 'the best secret we’ve ever kept'.
In her post, Lily reflected on the challenges of motherhood, writing: 'We’ve had a bit of a rough start but we’re on the mend now. I cannot thank all the midwives, nurses, and consultants at James Cook hospital enough for looking after us both.' She added that baby Pearl has 'made all our dreams come true'.
Lily, who rose to fame finishing third on The X Factor in 2011, announced her engagement to Eddie McQueen in 2023. Eddie is the son of late footballer Gordon McQueen, who played for Scotland, Manchester United and Leeds. The couple have kept their relationship largely private, with Eddie first appearing on Lily’s Instagram in September 2023.
Aside from music, Lily appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2017 and joined Geordie Shore in 2020 for two series. Last year, she was hospitalised with a severe infection, forcing her to cancel a performance at the Sunderland Food and Drink Festival. Lily has been open about living with diabetes since the age of three.
