Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare has spoken out after reports claimed he was banned from the club's training ground following a disagreement with new manager Cesar Peixoto. The 25-year-old Nigerian forward denied refusing to leave the pitch, insisting he only wanted to train.
Arokodare denies wrongdoing
Reports suggested Arokodare refused to leave the playing surface after being told to, and security was deployed the next day to prevent him from entering. Taking to social media, Arokodare said: "I was very surprised and disappointed to see the media reports today, many of which are inaccurate. Throughout my career, I have always taken great pride in conducting myself professionally and maintaining the highest training standards."
He added: "My commitment has always been to prepare myself as well as possible so that I can contribute to my team-mates and the club whenever I am called upon. I remain under contract with Wolves, and my only intention is to fulfil my responsibilities professionally by training, doing my job, and contributing to the team in accordance with that contract."
Struggles at Wolves
Arokodare joined Wolves last summer from Belgian side Genk for £23.4m but managed only three goals in 33 appearances as the club was relegated to the Championship. He was not involved in a pre-season friendly against Maidenhead on Wednesday.
Several clubs are interested in signing him. Fiorentina initially showed interest but have used up their non-EU squad spots, forcing them to abandon a move. Serie A side Genoa and Dutch club Ajax are monitoring the situation.
Wolves squad changes
Wolves have seen several departures ahead of their first Championship season. Joao Gomes completed a £35m move to Aston Villa, while Matt Doherty left for Sheffield United. The club has also made signings, including Raul Jimenez, Ladislav Krejci, Rafiki Said, and Kieran Trippier.
