Calvin Harris, born Adam Wiles, has bought the Coach and Horses pub in his hometown of Dumfries. The 41-year-old DJ, whose career includes 31 UK top 10 singles, made the 2023 purchase with his friend Mark Irving through a partnership called To The Nines. The property was sold for £190,000, reports Glasgow Live.

John Owens, who ran the pub before the sale, told the Daily Mail that the superstar remains friendly when he returns. "Calvin, or Adam, is a pleasant chap, always has been. We're all proud of him. When he's home he'll pop in if he gets the chance," he said.
A historic pub with strong reviews
The Coach and Horses overlooks the River Nith and dates back to the 16th century. The venue continues to support local music with live bands and open mic nights. On Google Reviews, it holds four-and-a-half stars out of five from 253 reviews, with one customer describing it as the "best pub in Dumfries".
Support for the local music scene
Hagen Patterson, director of the Dumfries Music Collective (DMC), told the BBC he hopes the purchase creates more opportunities for young people. "We have witnessed some great artistry to come out of the pub over many years. Performing live for the first time, even if just for a handful of listeners, provides invaluable experience," he said. "It's a chance to try out brand new material, gauge reactions, and build a local fan base. We are delighted that Calvin and Mark have ensured the longevity of the Coach and Horses, this helps foster our scene."
The pub has also won praise from bands that moved to the UK from abroad. Leah Chynoweth-Tidy, of the band Kissing The Flint, said: "All the staff are so supportive and welcoming, really love their live music and are super proud of their historic, vibrant wee venue, which well they should be."
Calvin Harris is performing at Hampden Park in Glasgow this weekend. The show will be broadcast on BBC One tonight (Saturday, August 1st) at 10pm.
