Channel 4's reality show Virgin Island has returned for a second series, with viewers praising the contestants for tackling a challenge they admitted they would struggle with themselves. The show, which airs on Mondays and Tuesdays, follows 12 sexually inexperienced adults as they learn about relationships and intimacy on a Croatian island.
In the latest episode, the group entered the 'nudity phase', designed to help them confront body insecurities. Participants were asked to disrobe in front of a mirror, with the rest of the group and therapists watching. While some chose to keep their underwear on, the experts expressed pride in everyone's efforts.
One standout moment involved Katie, who revealed she had been bullied at school and was called 'the monster'. She admitted she still struggles with those memories and sees herself as repulsive. Another contestant, Bertie, asked his surrogate partner Kat for his first kiss, which appeared to boost his confidence.
Viewers took to social media to share their emotional reactions. One wrote: 'This would be the hardest challenge for me too, so kudos to everyone for getting naked in front of the whole group and the cameras.' Another commented: 'I wouldn't get my nethers out on TV and not to brag but I'm not a virgin.' A third added: 'That was quite an emotional moment.'
Others expressed support for the contestants, with one saying: 'I hope that the people who bullied Katie... see what they have done to another human. Katie, you are incredibly brave.' Another viewer noted: 'Bertie’s going to make me cry. So much progression and confidence from him!'
Virgin Island airs Monday and Tuesday nights at 9pm on Channel 4.
