Channel 4 Viewers Emotional Over Virgin Island's Toughest Challenge Yet
Virgin Island's Hardest Challenge Leaves Viewers Teary

Channel 4 viewers have been left emotional after watching the latest episode of Virgin Island, which featured what many are calling the show's most difficult challenge yet. The unique reality series, which returned to screens last week, has already released three episodes, with new instalments airing on Mondays and Tuesdays before becoming available to stream on Channel 4.

Halfway Point Marks Nudity Phase

Tonight's episode (May 5) marks the halfway point of the second season, which consists of eight episodes in total. Following the format of the debut series, the show sends 12 sexually inexperienced adults to a beautiful island in Croatia, where they are joined by a group of sex and relationship experts. The goal is to help participants learn the practical and emotional skills needed for happy, healthy relationships.

In the latest scenes, the group begins what is referred to as the 'nudity phase', designed to help them confront body insecurities and become more familiar with their anatomy. Participants were invited to a workshop wearing as few clothes as they felt comfortable with, then asked to walk up to a mirror in front of the group and therapists and disrobe.

Emotional Moments for Participants

Not everyone was able to go completely nude, with some opting to keep their underwear on. However, the experts expressed pride in all of them for their efforts. One participant, Katie, shared her struggles with past bullying, revealing that she was called "the monster" at school and still sees herself as repulsive, believing the bullies' words were true.

Another participant, Bertie, dealt with his body confidence issues and eventually asked his surrogate partner Kat for his first kiss, which seemed to boost his confidence significantly.

Viewers React on Social Media

People watching at home were quick to share their thoughts, with many acknowledging that this week's challenge would be one of the most difficult for anyone. Some admitted they would struggle to take part themselves, regardless of their relationship experience.

One viewer posted on social media: "This would be the hardest challenge for me too, so kudos to everyone for getting naked in front of the whole group and the cameras." Another commented: "I wouldn't get my nethers out on TV and not to brag but I'm not a virgin." A third added: "That was quite an emotional moment," while someone else responded: "Made me teary goo Bertie. So brave."

One person said: "I hope that the people who bullied Katie and showed what vile people they are, see what they have done to another human. Katie, you are incredibly brave. This takes so much guts. Don't let others take your body away from you." Another viewer added: "Bertie's going to make me cry. So much progression and confidence from him!"

Virgin Island airs Monday and Tuesday nights at 9pm on Channel 4.
