Vernon Kay Gets Told Off by Co-Star, Says 'I Should Know in House Full of Ladies'
Vernon Kay Told Off by Co-Star After Split from Tess Daly

Vernon Kay made a remark about his home life live on his BBC Radio 2 show, five weeks after he and Tess Daly announced their surprising separation. In a joint statement posted on Instagram in May, they disclosed that they had amicably parted ways after 22 years of marriage and continue to be friends.

On the most recent episode of his show, Vernon made a comment about living 'in a house full of ladies'. This came after the 52-year-old humorously admitted that he had made a 'big mistake' by not noticing his producer Janine Maya-Smith's new hairstyle.

'Not one of you made the effort to say how nice it looks,' his colleague, whom he calls Janice-Janine, said on air after labelling Vernon and the team 'naughty boys'.

In an attempt to win back her favour, Vernon told Janine: 'You always look fabulous.' The host went on to say that he and his male co-stars 'capitulated' after she slammed them for failing to comment on her fresh look.

Recreating the conversation, he exclaimed: 'I will not have it, you three boys, I've had a trim and a colour and none of you have noticed.'

Addressing the oversight, Vernon added: 'I should've known, I live in a house full of ladies, do you know what I mean? I should've known. I apologise Janice, it was a rookie error, it was a big mistake Janice-Janine, you look fabulous, my love,' before commending her for keeping the team 'together'.

'That's a nice thing to say,' Janine responded, to which Vernon laughed: 'Are you struggling to find a positive in that? Because it sounds like it.'

It's not the first occasion the presenter has referenced his home situation since revealing his marital breakdown. During an episode of his programme last month, he also disclosed details of a family get-together at his and Tess' residence.

He said: 'Yesterday, we were tidying up, Amber had a party. Tess and I were running around tidying up and thank goodness that the weather was nice, do you know what I mean, with cleaning up the garden. We had such a good time, it was awesome on Saturday night and very funny. But in the morning, Tess and I were like, 'Woah, better get cracking!''

The couple are still thought to be living together with their daughters at their six-bedroom property in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, and it remains unclear whether either Tess or Vernon intend to relocate.

Shortly after the separation was made public, Vernon's father Norman offered insight into the circumstances surrounding their break up. Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: 'Of course, it's sad when people split up, and we're all very fond of Tess; they made a lovely couple.'

He continued by saying the pair had 'gone in different directions' in their lives, noting that this can occasionally result in more positive outcomes. 'This is one of those cases,' he added, before confirming that no third party was involved in the separation.
