Vernon Kay Astounded by Scottish Island: 'One Word'

Vernon Kay was left amazed after learning where two radio listeners were tuning in from, saying there was "one word" to describe it. His comments came as he shared listeners' messages about their Tuesdays on his show, including a voice note from Mick in Ramsgate, who said he enjoys bell-ringing practice at the local St Laurence's Church.

Meanwhile, Keith and Aileen said "nothing major" happens for them on that day, but Vernon's interest was piqued when he learned where they were based: the Isle of Harris in Scotland's Outer Hebrides.

Vernon shared his thoughts about a picture of the "Scottish vista" on BBC Radio 2 yesterday (June 16), instructing his colleague, Phil, to "look at this" before explaining to listeners what he was seeing.

He said: "Phil, have you visited the Isle of Harris? Phil, look at this. Oh my gosh; stunning. There's one word to describe that picture, Keith and Aileen. I'll describe it to the nation because it is the radio."

"It's a beautiful Scottish vista. There's a V-shaped valley. On the right-hand side, looks like a farmhouse. In the background, it looks like the ocean. And then, further on, you got more mountain ranges."

He added: "It looks absolutely stunning. You enjoy yourselves."

Lewis and Harris sit in the far north-west of Scotland's Outer Hebrides. Known for its breathtaking ocean views, white-sand beaches and rugged mountains, as well as a "unique 'lunar' landscape" - Harris has been described as "full of drama".

According to Discover Highlands and Islands, the main settlement on the island is Tarbert. It's home to the Isle of Harris Distillery, which produces The Hearach single malt whiskies.

Last month, Vernon and former Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly announced they would be separating. Married in September 2003, they said it had "not been an easy choice".

They explained that it came "from a place of mutual understanding and a shared desire for what is best for both of us".

Vernon and Tess, who share two daughters, stated that they "remain great friends and most importantly, fully committed to our roles as loving and supportive parents, which will always be our priority".

It comes after Tess was spotted enjoying a trip to New York as she left the UK to reunite with their eldest daughter, Phoebe Kay. She shared a series of photos of the pair taking in the city.

In her post, she wrote: "NYC with my best girls #HelloGorgeous." In response, Phoebe wrote: "LOVE YOU the best time everrrr." Vernon commented: "What a few days [heart and flame emojis]."

Just one day later, Tess posted more photos, saying: "Over and out NYC [heart emojis]." Phoebe wrote: "Going to miss you in NYC! [heart emojis]."
