Scottish actor Tony Curran has been making the most of the World Cup celebrations after Scotland secured their first World Cup victory in 30 years. However, a new social media clip shows the 56-year-old perhaps taking things a bit too far.
Dancing on Tables
Sharing a video on his Instagram last night (June 15), Curran is seen proudly singing along to Loch Lomond while standing on a long table amidst a crowd of Scottish fans. Dressed in his kilt and football top, the actor waves his arms and jumps on the table. However, his dismount was far from graceful, as he stumbles off the edge and falls to the ground, bringing a man in red down with him. Captioning the video, Curran wrote: "I may have had an ale!"
Fan Reactions
Many fans and friends took to the comments to share their amusement. Scottish composer Lorne Balfe wrote: "Epic fall … or an epic rise," to which Curran replied: "Down but Scots always rise… indeed pal!" One fan commented: "Totally styled that out… no one even noticed!" Another added: "Thank Goodness you’re ok. It’s even funnier the third time. I’m sorry." A fourth person cheerfully noted: "Love how you took someone else down as well! Sign of a great night!"
Karen Gillan Joins In
Curran's pal Karen Gillan also reposted the clip on her Instagram story, captioning it: "This might be my favourite I've ever seen." The Outlander star added a warning: "Don't try this at home kids," followed by a laughing emoji. Fans were delighted to see the Scottish duo together, as they briefly worked together on Doctor Who over a decade ago, with Curran playing Vincent Van Gogh.
Sharing a snap of the pair outside Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, many fans expressed surprise. One wrote: "Vincent Van Gogh looks so happy to meet Amy Pond again." Another questioned: "Is that Vincent Van Gogh with you?" In a recent upload, Curran and Gillan are seen singing in the back of a car heading to the Haiti match, belting out: "Here we go, Scotland's all over the world."
Upcoming Projects
Both actors are set to appear in the new Jumanji film, which wrapped production in April. Gillan will reprise her role as Ruby Roundhouse, while Curran's character remains under wraps. With Scotland having two more group stage matches, more shenanigans are likely to surface online in the coming weeks.
