Coronation Street actress Tina O'Brien's daughter, Scarlett Thomas, is making waves in the entertainment industry. At just 17, she has signed a major record deal with Big Family Music, following in the footsteps of her famous parents.
A Rising Star in Her Own Right
Scarlett Thomas is the teenage daughter of Tina O'Brien, who plays Sarah Platt on Coronation Street, and Ryan Thomas, who portrayed Jason Grimshaw on the same ITV soap for 16 years. The young actress made her television debut in 2023 on the BBC school drama Waterloo Road, playing Izzy Charles alongside her uncle Adam Thomas. Her performance earned praise and a nomination from TV Times magazine.
Proud mother Tina expressed her joy on Instagram at the time, writing: "So proud of @scarlettjthomas26, she's worked so hard on Waterloo Road and I've absolutely loved watching her portrayal of Izzy. Wonderful to see her talent recognised by @tvtimesmagazine as she's been nominated for an award."

Beyond acting, Scarlett has built a substantial online following. She regularly posts singing clips on TikTok, where she has over 367,600 followers, and boasts 247,000 fans on Instagram. Both accounts were launched when she turned 16.
Signing the Record Deal
Earlier this year, Scarlett's father Ryan Thomas shared his delight after she secured a recording contract. The former Dancing on Ice winner announced the news on social media in January, calling it one of the most meaningful days of his life. He posted a video and photos from the day Scarlett signed the deal, writing: "Today is one of the best days of my life. Watching my little girl sign a record deal is a moment I will cherish forever."
He noted the serendipity of the occasion: "The stars were all aligned today. As we turned up at the restaurant to sign the deal Scarlett said 'I've been here before dad' and then we found this video." Ryan shared throwback clips of Scarlett performing at the same location five years earlier, when she was just 12, singing "A Million Dreams" in front of her family.

Scarlett confirmed the news herself, posting images of her signing the contract. She wrote: "Wow what an experience I have had so far, and what an experience I'm about to have, I am beyond grateful for this amazing opportunity. Today was a life-changing moment for me. I've been working hard behind the scenes, but I can now finally share it with you all. I can't wait for what this year brings, hopefully some amazing music."
The deal with Big Family Music was reportedly concluded during the restaurant gathering that Scarlett and Ryan shared online. Coronation Street airs weeknights on ITV1 at 8:30pm and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX.
