Theo James has emerged as a leading candidate to become the next James Bond, following a stylish appearance in Paris. The 39-year-old Oxford native, best known for his role as Four in the 'Divergent' series, brings grizzled charm and British toughness to his performances. He recently starred in Netflix's 'The Gentlemen' as aristocratic drug kingpin Eddie Horniman and voiced a character in Marvel's 'X-Men '97.'
Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson have stated that the next Bond should be British, male, and young enough to continue for at least 15 years. With Broccoli and Wilson turning over creative control to Amazon MGM, changes may be in store. Other contenders include James Norton, 37, who has played a sociopath in 'Happy Valley' and a vicar in 'Grantchester,' and Harris Dickinson, 28, who showcased physicality in 'The Iron Claw.'
The next Bond film, 'Bond 26,' is unlikely to begin production before 2025. The timeline may follow 'No Time to Die,' where Bond is dead, or could reset the franchise in an alternate universe. Director chatter includes Steve McQueen for 'Blitz,' though Edward Berger and Christopher Nolan are unlikely to be involved.
