A journalist has sampled the UK's most popular Tesco meal deal combination, with one component described as absolutely horrific. The nation's favourite combo, according to Tesco data, is the Chicken Club Sandwich, an Egg Protein Pot, and a Red Bull.
The Egg Protein Pot: A Culinary Challenge
The reporter, Vita Molyneux, expressed dismay at the sight of two hard-boiled eggs submerged in a greyish liquid inside a plastic pot. The eggs, stored under fluorescent lighting, emitted a sulphurous odour upon opening. Despite a pleasant yellow colour, the texture was grainy and the taste likened to flatulence. After one bite, the eggs were discarded, with a friend refusing to accept them.
The Chicken Club Sandwich: A Welcome Relief
In contrast, the Chicken Club Sandwich was described as a welcome break, fresh and nicely seasoned, though slightly excessive with six slices of bread. However, a grainy piece of chicken led to the final corner being thrown away. The Red Bull, packed with sugar and caffeine, successfully eliminated any lingering egg flavour, making the review easier to write.
The journalist concluded with a genuine appreciation for meal deal culture but vowed to stick to crisps in the future, avoiding the egg pots entirely.
