Love Island star Tasha Ghouri's family has spoken out against online trolls who have mocked her deafness. In an emotional Instagram post, they urged fans to 'lead with love' and stop making fun of what they called her 'superpower'.
Ghouri, the show's first deaf contestant, wears a cochlear implant in her right ear. The device converts sound into electrical signals to simulate hearing. On her first day in the villa, she gathered fellow Islanders to explain her condition, a moment that drew criticism from some viewers over their reactions.
The model and dancer has been involved in a love triangle with Luca Bish and Andrew Le Page, ultimately staying with Andrew after the latest recoupling. She was also briefly interested in new contestant Charlie Radnedge.
Before Love Island, Ghouri appeared in a 2020 music video for 'More Than Words' by Sleepwalkrs featuring MNEK, which featured deaf and hard-of-hearing dancers. Love Island airs on ITV2 and is available on ITV Hub and Britbox.
