Suzanne Shaw Opens Up About Heartbreak After 12-Year Relationship Ends

Former Hear'Say singer Suzanne Shaw has spoken candidly for the first time about the end of her three-year marriage to DJ Jason King, describing it as 'the most amicable split ever'. The 30-year-old star, who also ended a previous relationship with actor Darren Day, insists she does not want sympathy and remains focused on her seven-year-old son, Corey.

Shaw, who met King four years before they married, said the couple grew apart due to working away from home and spending less time together. 'There was no one else involved,' she explained. 'We genuinely are still really good friends and always will be.' King continues to play a fatherly role to Corey, who was two months old when Day left Shaw on Mother's Day in 2005.

Despite two failed relationships, Shaw does not feel unlucky in love. 'Corey came out of a relationship with Darren, and Corey is the most wonderful thing that could have ever happened,' she said. 'Then I spent seven wonderful years with Jay. It doesn't feel like it's the end.' She added that Corey is 'a lucky little boy' to have two dads.

Shaw is currently starring in the Seventies stage farce 'Funny Peculiar' alongside Coronation Street veterans Vicky Entwistle and Craig Gazey. She began her career early, learning ballet at three and appearing in the West End production of Showboat at age nine. Her big break came at 18 with Hear'Say.

Regarding future romance, Shaw said she is not interested in dating at the moment. 'It's not that I have a lot of barriers. I wear my heart on my sleeve. But there's only been a couple of people I have fallen for,' she said. Being a single mum would also make dating more complicated, as any new partner would need to 'tick a hell of a lot more boxes'.
