Kanye West's $57 million Malibu mansion has been abandoned and left to deteriorate, less than two years after the rapper purchased the property and hired acclaimed architect Tadao Ando for renovations. The 4,000-square-foot oceanfront home, bought in September 2021, now stands as a stripped-back concrete shell with rusting metal and crumbling interiors.
Renovations halted by summer 2022, leaving the mansion windowless and exposed to the elements. Neighbors told TMZ the property has been 'left to rot,' with no activity seen for months. The project's collapse followed West's anti-Semitic outbursts, which led to the loss of business partnerships and an estimated $1.6 billion of his net worth, dropping him from Forbes' billionaires list.
Despite the halted renovations, West still owns several other properties, including a ranch in Calabasas, California, where he built dome structures for his Yeezy Home initiative. He also recently married Bianca Censori, an architect who heads Yeezy's architecture division.
The Malibu mansion's floor-to-ceiling windows have been removed, leaving the interior vulnerable to salt air and moisture. Photos show rusted railings and crumbling surfaces, a stark contrast to the 'pad of my dreams' described by a fan in 2021. In late 2022, a 'Happy Hanukkah' banner was reportedly placed on the property amid West's anti-Semitic remarks.
