Strictly Come Dancing fans have been sharing their thoughts on the three new presenters since the line-up was announced, and one star has left them uncertain. Months after Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced their exit from the show, BBC bosses finally confirmed their replacements: Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe.
It has not yet been confirmed who will take on which role, but it is understood their presenting duties may differ from those previously held by Tess and Claudia. Emma, 50, and Josh, 43, are expected to serve as the main hosts, while professional dancer Johannes, 39, is rumoured to be taking on a 'roving reporter' role.
Mixed Reactions from Fans
While many fans agreed the show was in need of a major shake-up, some have expressed reservations with one presenter – Josh. Several believe Emma is a good choice due to her presenting experience, while Johannes is already beloved by Strictly fans. Despite also working as a presenter, Josh has been viewed by many as the least safe option.
Writing on Reddit, one fan said: 'Well done to them all. Emma I have no doubts will be great - she’s a veteran when it comes to reality TV presenting and very well liked. JoJo is also popular with Strictly viewers. Josh is the biggest wildcard but hope people give him a chance.'
Another echoed: 'I think this could be a good mix. I'm unsure about Josh, but I'm keeping optimistic. It certainly freshens things up, although I'll miss Johannes on the dance floor.'
A third agreed: 'I'm gonna miss Johannes as a pro, but if he is leaving that role, at least he will still be there on the show in another role. I don't know who Josh is, or if he is suited to the role. I've seen some saying they are not impressed with him as a choice. Emma is a good solid choice though.'
Josh Widdicombe's Reaction
Josh discussed finally being able to speak about becoming the new host of Strictly, admitting he had to lie to his two children to keep the news under wraps. Speaking on his Parenting Hell podcast, which he co-hosts with Rob Beckett, he said: 'This is being recorded when the news has just come out. I've got to go and get them from school in a bit and I'll tell them.'
'Because I couldn't trust them. You just simply can't trust them. You don't leave an eight-year-old and go, 'You simply can't tell anyone this,' because that's unfair. So I haven't told them.'
'So I'm going to go and pick them up from school and my son won't really, I think with my daughter the truth is, it's not going to feel as wild to her.' He shares daughter Pearl, eight, and son Cassius, five, with his wife, television producer Rose Hanson.
