Hollywood actor Stanley Tucci has given his verdict on a small Italian restaurant in Edinburgh following a recent visit to Scotland. Sharing a video of himself on social media, many Scottish fans were ecstatic to hear his review.
Last week, the Devil Wears Prada star stopped off at Little Capo, located on Howe Street in Edinburgh. Branding their own cuisine as 'Italian-ish', the small restaurant has become popular with locals for its pasta dishes, wines, and cocktails.
Taking to Instagram yesterday evening (June 14), Tucci uploaded a video of himself midway through a meal at the restaurant. Sharing his insight into the tasty dish, the 65-year-old branded the establishment as "extraordinary".
Speaking to the camera, he said: "I'm in Edinburgh in a really wonderful restaurant that is Italian-ish as they call themselves, but it is actually proper Italian. We have had the most amazing meal.
"The pinnacle of it will be this [shows dish], which is Pasta Alla Norma. Extraordinary wine, extraordinary cocktails, everything. I mean, amazing. It's called Little Capo. Extraordinary."
Little Capo themselves have since reshared the clip on their Instagram story thanking the actor for this lovely review. Sharing a direct link to the video, they captioned the clip: "The King. Grazie @stanleytucci".
Tucci also added in his own caption for the post, stating that while the restaurant may call themselves Italian-ish, he calls them "very, very good".
Many fans of the Big Night star were quick to flood the comments section with praise for both the actor and the restaurant. One person wrote: "Stanley, Scotland and Edinburgh especially adores you! Thank you for paying us a visit." With another adding: "Love how you pronounced Edinburgh correctly!"
Quite a few people were pleased with Stanley highlighting cuisine in Edinburgh, as someone commented: "Fabulous restaurant: delightful lunch during the Festival. I told lots of people but it won't get close to you doing so!"
A fourth person also shared some advice for those now wanting to try the Italian-ish food: "Going for lunch on Friday. Been a few times before and agree that it's extremely good! Definitely need to book well in advance!! The risotto is wonderful too."
A Little Capo regular also added: "I was there with my friend, we saw you! So glad you liked it, one of our favourites."
Tucci is currently in the UK filming a new National Geographic series about this new homeland. While the actor and his literary agent wife, Felicity Blunt, live in London, he is travelling across the country for his culinary adventure.
Called Tucci in Great Britain, he will be travelling from the rugged Highlands to storied coastlines as he unlocks distinct flavours that define each region.
Ahead of the five-part series being filmed, he said: "I am very excited to explore the history, culture and people of Great Britain through the prism of food. Having made it my home for almost 15 years, I want to share the culinary diversity, richness and depth of its food culture."
The series will be available on National Geographic and Disney+.
