Sinitta, the 62-year-old singer and I'm A Celebrity South Africa star, has opened up about her on-off romance with Simon Cowell, claiming he 'wasn't a faithful boyfriend'. The revelation came during a conversation with Gemma Collins on the ITV show.
Sinitta, who first found fame in the 1980s as the first artist signed to Cowell's label Fanfare Records, said they dated intermittently for 40 years. She described herself as 'very possessive' and admitted that women would 'act crazy' around the 66-year-old music mogul, recalling an incident where a woman burnt a cigarette on her shoulder while they danced in a club.
Reflecting on their relationship, Sinitta said: 'I feel like Simon loves me and cares about me, but it's just… I think I romanticise everything.' She added that she genuinely believed they would marry, but now sees him with his fiancée Lauren Silverman and their son Eric, acknowledging that 'everyone really does have their proper person'.
Following the broadcast, Sinitta commented on an Instagram clip of the conversation, calling it 'a little sad' and explaining that they are now 'more like siblings' in a completely unromantic way. She wrote: 'Many years of fun and achieving good things together. We are both happy now.'
The episode also featured an awkward exchange between Sinitta and Gemma Collins, when Sinitta admitted she initially thought Gemma's casting in Chicago was a joke. Gemma defended herself, saying she auditioned and got the role 'fair and square'.
