In an exclusive revelation, former I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! star Ruby Wax has definitively quashed rumours of a jungle romance between EastEnders actress Shona McGarty and rapper Aitch. Speaking in her first interview since leaving the camp, Wax disclosed that McGarty privately confided the music star was "not her type at all" during unaired scenes.
The Truth Behind the Campfire Chatter
Ruby Wax, the fifth celebrity to be eliminated from the ITV show, told the Mirror she had actively tried to play matchmaker between the two youngest campmates. However, her efforts were firmly rebuffed. "She said she likes hunky, bigger men so that she feels female, so he wasn't on the list at all," Wax revealed. She also pointed to the significant age gap, with Aitch being 25 and Shona 34.
Wax humorously admitted her grand plans for the pair had been dashed. "I wanted her to marry him. I thought we could have children and we'd live in the forest forever," she said. "I thought we would have the next generation living in the forest, but no go." Her matchmaking logic was simple: "I just saw the two youngest people, and they both sing. Why not? I was doing mating rituals. But then she wasn't interested. He wasn't either."
Frenzied Speculation and Family Verdicts
This private conversation was never broadcast, but it occurred amidst intense speculation about a potential relationship brewing in camp. The rumours were fuelled when Aitch confessed to fellow campmate 'Angry Ginge' that he had "a bit of a soft spot for Shona." Presenters Ant and Dec were notably enthusiastic about the prospect of a jungle romance, with Dec saying he was "shell-shocked" by Aitch's admission and Ant adding they'd "love to see it."
Even Shona's family had weighed in. Her sister, Camila, gave Aitch a tentative seal of approval upon arriving in Brisbane, stating, "He is a nice guy...I would definitely have him around for Christmas." However, she remained unsure if the connection was romantic, suggesting it could be more of a "brother and sister relationship."
Single Status and Amicable Splits
Both celebrities entered the jungle single. Shona McGarty, 34, had called off her engagement to musician David Bracken earlier in 2025, with insiders describing the split as amicable. Aitch, whose real name is Harrison Armstrong, also split from his girlfriend Lois Cottam prior to the show's start. Despite their availability and the producers' hopes, Ruby Wax's revelations confirm that any jungle love story was purely the stuff of viewer imagination.
